Earlier I already said that Showtime came with a lot of objects, but these stamps give you access to additional exclusive stage items like a Freeze Bunny Chair , this is an extra incentive besides extra Simoleons and career performance to use the Simport feature. The Stampbook in the new Simport Feature, there is a small picture of the exclusive items you can get if you finish these 9 stamps, there IS a freezer bunny chair! In addition to Simport, Showtime comes with a host of new social features, which will also be added in the base game patch that is released at the same time as Showtime.

One of them is a wall, on this the game or you posts messages for example that you want to host a Sim. But you can also post memories or screenshots, so when something unusual happens in your game, you can share it with your friends right away. Your friends can see this in their game or on the Sims 3 website, and they can then comment on your post, so you can talk to your friends within the game.

This gives you a new way to ask your Sim-playing friends for help, or to share funny things that happen. The final new social feature for Showtime is the achievements, and as an avid gamer, I am particularly excited about this. This adds new goal-based game play, which will encourage you to try things you may not have considered doing before.

Achievements earn you badges which, depending on difficulty, are bronze, silver, gold or platinum. Your badges are posted on your profile both in game and on the Sims 3 website, so you can have a little friendly or not so friendly competition with your friends to see who can get the most badges. The new world, Starlight Shores, has a Californian feel, with modern buildings. If you want to see a bit of the world, you should check out the Showtime live chat footage from a couple of weeks ago.

In the background you can see a "hollywood" sign in Starlight Shores, but then in Simlish. In the middle of the new world is a large privately owned park. It is only open at certain times of day, and has a stage for performances.

This is where the new expansion pack gets really interesting. If your Sim is a bit shy, they can still go and watch other performers around town. If your Sim is in the audience they can also choose to throw anything from a wide range of objects onto the stage. You can also hire a Sing-a-gram from the phone, to deliver a message to someone special. For vegetarian Sims, Showtime will add a huge variety of new dishes.

Another new recipe everyone can enjoy is a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. Bananas are, of course, a new harvestable plant.

There is also a new fish — the sea bat starfish. After Sims are done performing, all props and FX lights are placed in the family inventory. If the props are rearranged, the player will be asked to save the changes. If a prop is moved out of the family inventory before the next performance, it won't appear with the rest of the layout. Moving to a new residential lot will delete the saved layout, but will not affect the items in inventory.

By default, only a few stage props are available in the game for Sims to buy. Players need to use the SimPort in order to unlock more stage props as well as costumes.

However, rather than placing objects on a grid, you'll have to place them on specific points on the stage. Because Lanette stands in the center of the stage to sing, everything there shown by a red X on the floor is off-limits.

You can place objets on any blue X in the back, or any round "outlet" on the front. For lights, you can orient them any way you want, so the lights could highlight the performer or the audience if you really wanted them to. Lanette places her FX pod in the back of the stage right in the center. In theory, it'll go off right behind her, creating a neat little sparkle or fire effect as she sings.

As with Buy Mode and Build Mode , the game doesn't dectect your layout or judge what's "good" or what's "bad": you could stick a prop directly in front your performer and the game doesn't care. Lanette just decides this is the placement she likes the best.

After she places her FX pod, she checks out the props list. It's several pages long with a small variety of themes, though there is no blatant indication what constitutes the "theme.

Unlike the rest of the Buy Mode catalogue, props are not just listed from least to most expensive, but groups and themes tend to stick together. For example, the Katy Perry sweet themed objects will be in a group together at the end of the list if you bought the Katy Perry special edition of the game. Some props lend themselves to a particular profession over another, such as the saw box prop being better for magicians.

Again, it doesn't matter what props you have Lanette could still benefit from a saw box prop , but keeping similar themes lead to bigger boosts.
