Tardis40 I work on behalf of HP Please click Accept as Solution if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Message 3 of I've applied the latest AMD driver update but that showed little or no improvement. It's a model dx, buy the way. All to no avail. So what now? Message 4 of Hi again. I posted that last post with formatting and paragraphs and proper punctuation, but it came out as one long unreadable post.
Don't know how that happened. That was not my intention. Please see what you can do to read the original reply and hopefully to continue to help us. Message 5 of Hi zack2 , Thanks for getting back to me. Message 6 of Can't afford to be charged for support assistance.
Level Message 7 of In general, a hard drive performs more slowly in IDE mode. IDE mode provides better compatibility with some older hardware. On some motherboards the SATA ports are color coded. Connect the drives to ports of the same color. Follow these steps to set the controller mode.
Immediately press the F10 key if your computer was built in or later came with Vista or Windows 7. Immediately press the F1 key if your computer was built before XP or earlier. Slow SATA performance repair tool fix to do data recovery, best file Recovery software help you recover MS word, excel, pictures, music, video files from Slow SATA performance Use "unformat" to recover formatted drive for " Slow SATA performance" after quick format, full format, accidentally formatted,reformatting,High-level formatting,Low-level formatting.
Select "full scan". Also consider enabling drive write cache as this helps the consumer SSD's perform better. Also make sure smart path is disabled. That also offers a noticeable performance increase on 3rd party drives. Make sure to test this on your own as you're looking at using a gen 9 controller. Things may have changed. Maybe i have to contact HP because the writes are a joke.
Why would you install the host on SSDs? We just got a p Gen9 and have the same issue. Right around MB, worse than the normal drives. Tried disabling smartpath, didnt help.
Enabling the cache helps for small files, but yeah when you pick a larger write it slows down again. Not sure what else to try at this point. Did you get anywhere with HP? So it has to be a firmware lock or similar. If you have any questions i will look occasionally into this thread. We have a paper on the differences between typical enterprise SSDs e. There are some critical things you should be aware of,. Is this a brand new array we are talking about, or one that has been in service for a while?
If this is something that has degraded over time, then you may be experiencing the limits on Client grade SSDs as the memory gets bogged down with old deleted data, and the controller is having trouble keeping up with workload.
Even the Pro is still a Client grade drive, and will suffer performance loss if subjected to enough continuous writes, without sufficient time for onboard Garbage Collection to run; you're running RAID which means no TRIM as well. If this is an old Array you may want to try forcing Garbage Collection on all the drives for at least 12 hours by powering them up without a SATA data cable for the given period; see if that makes any difference.
As Jon has stated the MDC is an enterprise grade SSD unlike the drives you have installed, so it is designed to handle the continuous writes to the drive without suffering much performance loss, which may be why you are seeing such a difference.
To me its clearly a software lock on HP side.
